Abstract

The green density, moisture content, bark percentage and heartwood percentage of Acrocarpus fraxinifolius were studied. The results showed that the green density had an increasing trend from pith to sapwood.Along with the increase of the tree height, the green density exhibited fluctuating variations. However,it tended to increase and then decrease, and with an average density of 1.170g·cm-3.The basic density increased from pith to sapwood.Along with the increase of the tree height, the density decreased firstly, then increased, and decreased finally. The average of the basic density was 0.520g·cm-3.The moisture content of green wood decreased from pith to sapwood.Along with the increase of tree height, the moisture contents exhibited the similar variations with the basic density,i.e.,decreased,increased,and decreased. The average of moisture content was 128.4%.The bark volume percentage and bark quality percentage increased with the increase of the tree height, with average values of 10.2%and 11.8%.The heartwood percentage decreased with the increase of the tree height, with an average of 23.3%.
