Abstract

Objective:To measure the concentrations of interferon-gamma(IFN-γ) and soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1(sICAM-1),to assess their correlation with acute myocardial infarction(AMI) and unstable angina group(UAP) of coronary heart disease(CHD).Methods:The serum concentrations of IFN-γ and sICAM-1 CHD patients and healthy controls were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA assay),and compared with healthy controls. Results:Significant increases were noted in serum IFN-γ and sICAM-1 in patients with AMI and UAP compared with healthy controls(P0.05 or P0.01).Serum IFN-γ was not significantly different between the AMI and UAP.Significant increases was noted in serum sICAM-1 in patients with AMI compared with UAP(P0.01).Conclusion:IFN-γand sICAM-1 might be implicated in the pathogenesis of the atherosclerosis in CHD.The serum concentration of sICAM-1 was significantly correlated with severity extent of CHD.It was a good predicting factor for CHD than the IFN-γ.
