Abstract

Objective:To compare the effects of aqueous extract of Chinese Galtnut, calcium hydroxide and chlorhexidine on candida albicans biofilm. Methods:Biofilms were grown on 96-well polymethylmethacrylate strips, and the quantitative analysis of biofilm formation and the concentrations of three antimicrobials restraining 80% fungal growth was performed by XTT reduction method.Result:The cellular metabolism level at 48h was the highest. The biofilm bioactivity and drug resistance increased with culturing time. Conclusion:Candida albicans were unsensitive to calcium hydroxide but sensitive to chlorhexidine and aqueous extract of Chinese Galtnut can restrain the biofilm formation at the initial stage.
