Abstract
Objective: To determine the effect of twin pregnancy complicated anemia on pregnancy outcome. Methods: 47 twin pregnancies were distributed to the anemia group with 21 gravidas and the control group with 26 gravidas. The incidence of pregnancy induced hypertension syndrome, prenature rupture of membranes, prematare birth, the numbers of pregnancy and birth, morthers' race and average age, average neonatal birth weight and Apgar score were analyzed in these two groups respectively. Results: The incidence of pregnancy induced hypertension syndrome, premature rupture of membranes, premature birth in the anemia group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P0.01). The one minute or five minutes Apgar Score in the anemia group was significantly lower than that in the control group respectively (P0.05). The degree of anemia was negativly associated with average neonatal birth weight and Apgar score (P0.01). Conclusions: When twin pregnancy complicated with anemia, the incidence of pregnancy induced hypertension syndrome, premature rupture of membranes, premature birth, lower neonatal birth weight are time high and the severe anemia is associated with greater risks for both morthers and fetuses.
