A comparative study of Ziprasidone and Aripiprazole in the treatment of schizophrenia

Abstract

Objective:To investigate the clinical effects and safety of Ziprasidon and Aripiprazole for treating schizophrenia. Methods:A total of 60 patients with schizophrenia were randomly divided into Ziprasidon group and Aripiprazole group.The treatment duration was eight weeks.PANSS TESS and RSESE were used to evaluate the clinical effects and side-effect respectively before treatment and on the 2nd,4th,6th and 8th weekend of after treatment.Results: The effective rate of Ziprasidon and Aripiprazole were 63.3% and 60% respectively,which showed no significant difference.There was no severe side effect in both groups.The incidence of adverse effects in two groups had no significant difference and the side effects of both groups were less.Conclusions: Ziprasidon and Aripiprazole are effective in the treatment of schizophrenia.Both have good compliance and few adverse effects.
