Abstract

Results from the trials on two crops of plant cane and one crop of ratoon cane during 2005 and 2006 showed that both cane and sugar yields of YT94-128 was significantly higher than those of ROC10(CK1) and ROC16(CK2), ranking first among the fourteen varieties tested. It performed strong ratooning ability with good agronomic characteristics. Mex105, FN98-1103, CP8 and MT96-1409 were obviously higher in sugar yield than the two checks, but not in cane yield; the ratooning ability of Mex105, CP8 and MT96-1409 was good, but FN98- 1103 poor, all of them presented good agronomic characteristics. GT94-116 and Q170 produced higher cane yield than the two checks, but only given even sugar yield when compared with the checks. YZ99-596 was between the 2 check varieties in both cane and sugar yields. The other tested varieties were poorer than the two checks in yield, sucrose content, ratooning ability, etc.
