Abstract

Objective To explore the efficacy of sitagliptin and metformin in treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods 113 patients with type 2 diabetes from October 2011 to March 2013 in our hospital were randomly divided into the treatment group of 57 cases(the patients treated with sitagliptin and metformin) and control group of 56 cases(the patients treated with metformin). Two groups were observed before and after treatment for 12 weeks, fasting blood glucose(FBG),2h postprandial blood glucose(2hPG),glycosylated hemoglobin(HbAlC),change in body mass index. Results Compared two groups of patients with FPG,2hPG,HbAlC,BMI before treatment, there were no significant difference(P 0.05);two groups after treatment compared with before treatment, the difference was statistically significant(P 0.05);compared two groups of 2hPG,HbA1C,BMI after treatment, treatment group was significantly better than the control group, the difference was statistical significance(P 0.05).Comparison of adverse reactions of the two groups, the difference was not statistically significant(P 0.05).Conclusion Sitagliptin and metformin in treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus exact, low rates of hypoglycemia,is worthy of clinical application.
