Effect of acupuncture and rehabilitation training on the motor function and activity of daily living in patients with hemiplegia

Objective To observe the influences of acupuncture and rehabilitation training on the motor function and activity of daily living in patients with hemiplegia.Methods 120 patients with stroke were randomly divided into two groups; acupuncture group(n = 60) and combining acupuncture with rehabilitation training group(n—60),the simple Fugl - Meyer Assessment(FMA) and the Barthel Index were applied to evaluate effection in patients pre and post -treatment after 4 weeks. Results The FMA and Barthel Index in two groups of post - treatment improved significantly than those of pre - treatment (P 0.05),but after treatment combining acupuncture with rehabilitation training group was significantly better compared with acupuncture group(P0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture combined with and rehabilitation training are effective to improve motor function and activity of daily living of patients with hemiplegia.
