On Foundation and Influence of the Science Society of China

The Science Society of China,the first comprehensive academic group in China,was founded by a group of Chinese students in America.The paper analyzes the reasons for its foundation,which resulted from the thought of invigorating the country through science,technology and education and studying abroad education at the end of Qing Dynasty.Simultaneously,Chinese students educated in America personally experienced the gap between the east and the west,which serves as catalyst and academic groups abroad stimulated the founder.Through initiating science,translating and writing works,giving demotic speech on science and founding the scientific libraries,the Science Society of China popularizes the knowledge of science and generates great influence.Therefore,it directly promotes the rise of educational thoughts of science and sets a good example for other academic groups.From foundation to returning home to dismissing,the Science Society of China has made indelible contribution for Chinese scientific cause.
