Abstract
Objective:To observe the effects of Taohong Siwu Decoction in treating primary dysmenorrhea,and explore its mechanism.Methods:(1)A hot plate test was employed to observe the therapeutic effects of Taohong Siwu Decoction on pain in female Kunming mice.(2)The effects of different dosage of Taohong Siwu Decoction on writhing frequency,writhing incidence,the plasma level of β-endorphin(β-EP) and the homogenate level of prostaglandin F2α(PGF2α) in the uterus were observed in oxytocin-induced female rats.Results:As compared with that of model group,the pain threshold was significantly increased in mice of groups treated with different dosage of Taohong Siwu Decoction,the writhing frequency and writhing incidence during 30 minutes were significantly decreased in rats(P0.01),the level of PGF2α in rat uterus was significantly decreased(P0.01).The plasma level of β-EP was significantly increased in rats of groups treated with high and middle dosage of Taohong Siwu Decoction compared with that of model group,but there was no significant difference in the rat plasma level of β-EP between the groups treated with high and middle dosage of Taohong Siwu Decoction and groups treated with Tianqi Tongjing Capsule and aspirin(P0.05).Conclusion:The analgesic effect of Taohong Siwu Decoction is significant,and Taohong Siwu Decoction can regulate the secretion of plasma β-EP and uterus PGF2α.
