Abstract

The ideas and methods about relative carrying capacity of resources were introduced in this paper. The relative carrying capacity of land resources, relative carrying capadity of economic resources and systhetic carrying capacity of resources of Guangdong province, from 1978 to 1995, have been calculated, their evolutionary have been described. Thus conclusions were drawn: 1)the economic resources is the principal resources to support population in the province; 2)the synthetic carrying capacity of the province had surpassed its real population and the province had gone into the state of relative enough from 1989; 3) the unharmonious development between relative carrying capacity of land resources and relative carrying capacity of economic resources is one of the main problems in this province on its way towards the sustainable development direction.
