Abstract

Objective It is to approach the influence of resveratrol on the proliferation and cell cycle distribution of MIAPaCa-2 cells in vitro. Methods Methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium method(MTT) was used to detect the cell growth status of MIAPaCa-2 cells after treatment by resveratrol.Cell cycle distributions of MIAPaCa-2 cells were analyzed by flow cytometry(FCM) after cells were treated with 25μmol/L,50μmol/L,100 μmol/L and 200μmol/L resveratrol for 48h respectively. Results Resveratrol inhibited the proliferation of MIAPaCa-2 cells in a concentration-dependent manner as measured by MTT method.Resveratrol decreased the percentage of cells in the G1 phase with a concomitant increased in the proportion of cells in the S phase. Conclusion These findings suggest that resveratrol may have a potent anti-proliferative effect on MIAPaCa-2 cells, the mechanisms of which may be related to the induction of re-distribution of cell cycle.
