Influence of Aripiprazole on Life Quality of the Patients with Schizophrenia

Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of aripiprazole and clozapine in the treatment of schizophrenia and their influence on the patients' life quality.Methods: All 60 patients with schizophrenia diagnosed according to CCMD-3 criteria were randomly assigned to two groups treated with aripiprazole or clozapine respectively for 8 weeks.The Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale(PANSS),Treatment Emergent Side effect Scale(TESS) and WHO Quality of Life-100(QOL-100) were used to evaluate the efficacy and adverse effect and influence on the patients' life quality respectively.Results: After 8 weeks,the score of PANSS had no significant difference between the two groups,but the incidence of adverse effects was lower and the score of QOL-100 was higher significantly in the aripiprazole group than in the clozapine group.Conclusion: Aripiprazole is as effective as clozapine in treatment of schizophrenia.But it is much safer than and its influence on the patients' life quality is superior to clozapine.
