Abstract

Effects of ethanol and combined with cytochalasin B(CB) or cycloheximide(CHX) or 6-dimethylaminopurine(DMAP) on the activation of porcine oocytes at 44 h of maturation in vitro were investigated. In this experiment, the development rates of ethanol-induced parthenogenetic activation of oocytes were compared. No blastocysts developed when ethanol alone at various concentrations(5%-11%) were used for 2 to 10 minutes. For the combination methods, the activation rate of oocytes was (70.86±3.75)% when exposed to 8% of ethanol for 5 min and treated in activation medium containing CB and DMAP for 6 h,and (15.07±5.53)% of parthenotes developed to blastocyst stage,higher(P0.05) than the other combined treatments.
