Matching Case-control Study of the Relation Between Helicobacter Pylori and Coronary Heart Disease

Abstract

Objective To investigate the relation between Helicobacter pylori(Hp) infection and coronary heart(CHD).Methods 53 patients with CHD and 53 controls matched for age,gender and smoking randomly recruited from the register of health examination.HpIgG in serum of the patients and controls was tested by ELISA.Their Fibrinogen(Fg) in plasma was detected. Results 75.5% of the CHD patients and 56.6% of the controls were seropositive for Hp.The OR was 3.The concentrations of plasma Fg in CHD group were higher than those in the control(P0.05).The difference between the seropositivity and seronegativity in CHD and controls was nonsignificant(P0.05).Conclusion This study suggests that infection with Hp is associated with CHD and has no relation with plasma Fg.
