Abstract
Multi-protocol label switching(MPLS) is a multi-layer switching technique that utilizes characteristics of layer 2 switching and of IP routing.By inserting labels into IP packet, routing forwarding in MPLS depends on the labels. This can not only significantly improve the forwarding speed but also characterize the IP network as quality of service(QoS) capability. This paper analyses the principles of MPLS and points out some applications.
