Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the significance of microparticle enzyme immunoassay(MEIA) for determinating of squamous cell asscoiated antigen(SccAg) in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC).Methods:Serum SccAg level is in NPC patients was determined by MEIA,and their diagnostic sensitivity, specificity and predictive values for NPC were also analyzed.Patients with benign nasopharyngeal diseases were used as control.Rusults:Levels of serum SccAg between Nasopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma and nasophatyngeal non-squamous cell carcinoma were not significant, and comparable to those in controls. The sensitivity, specificity, positive predicative value and negative predicative value of serum SccAg for NPC were 6.41%,100%,100% and 60.75%,respectively.Conclusions:Serum SccAg is not a good index for NPC.Serum SccAg detection can not be used to defficiate nasopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma and nasopharyngeal non-squamous cell carcinoma, but it can be used as an assistant index to differentiate nasopharyngeal benign and nign diseases.
