Abstract
Objective:To study the clinical signification of the serum squamous cell carcinoma antigen(SCCAg) in nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Methods:The serum SCCAg levels were measured by microparticle enzyme immunoassay(MEIA) in 61 patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma, 30 cases with other nasopharymgeal diseaese Results:The serum SCCAg level in other nasopharyngeal diseases was significantly liwer than that in nasopharyngeal carcinoma( P 0 01);serum SCCAg level was above 1 5ng/ml in 61 3% of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma, the specificity rate was 93 3%, 25 0% for the high differentiation squamous cell carcinoma and 78 3% for the low differentiation squamous cell carcinoma; The serum SCCAg levels in nasopharyngeal carcinoma declined apparently post actinotheraphy. Conclusions:The serum SCCAg level has high specificity for diagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and is associated with the degree of differentiation in carcinoma,it is a promising reference indes in anti-carcinoma treatment.
