Abstract

Objective To evaluate the varies of renal blood flow perfusion parameters with multi-slice spiral computed tomography in the healthy elderly. Methods Twenty-eight healthy people were divided into three groups:① 41-50 years old group;②51-60 years old group;③≥61 years old group. The renal perfusion scan was carried out with 16 row detector helical computed tomography. The data were analyzed by CT perfusion software. The perfusion picture and the time-density curve were obtained. Then the perfusion parameters were got in regions of interest. Results The BF value of renal cortex in over 61-year-old group was smaller than those of the 41 to 50-year-old and 51 to 60-year-old group. The differences were statistically significant(P0.05).The MTT value increased with aging but there were no significant differences among three age groups(P0.05).Though increasing trends appeared in BV and MTT values,no significant differences in the perfusion parameters of medulla were found among the three age groups. Conclusion CT perfusion imaging shows vivid change of renal cortical and medullary blood perfusion. The effects of aging on renal blood perfusion lie on renal cortex, and the BF value appears obvious decrease.CT perfusion imaging provides the quantification basis for the clinical understanding of the pathological and physiological changes of kidney.
