Abstract

Objective: To investigate the expressions of HIF-1α,Bcl-2 and Bax and apoptosis in ante-pituitary of rat after traumatic brain injury. Methods: The models of experimental traumatic brain injury rats were created according to Feeney.Ante-pituitaries were collected at the 24,72 h and 7 d respectively after traumatic brain injury. And control group was set up.The expressions of HIF-1α,Bcl-2 and Bax were assessed by immunohistochemistry staining.Apoptosis was detected by TUNEL staining. Results: Compared with those in control group, the expressions of HIF-1α,Bcl-2 and Bax were significantly increased in ante-pituitary at the 24 h after traumatic brain injury(P0.05) and reached peak at 72 h and lasted to 7 d.Apoptosis in ante-pituitary after traumatic brain injury was raised and the change characteristic of apoptosis index was coincident with the expression of HIF-1α and Bcl-2/Bax ratio. Conclusion: The expressions of HIF-1α,Bcl-2 and Bax are increased after traumatic brain injury and induce apoptosis of ante-pituitary.Those are the important factors of ante-pituitary functional disorders after traumatic brain injury.
