Abstract

Objective To observe the value of expression of neutrophil gelatinase-associated-lipocalin(NGAL)in predicting early acute kidney injury(AKI) induced by CO2 pneumoperitoneum. Methods Fifty male SD rats were divided randomly into five groups with 10 rats each.Besids sham operation control group, the models of CO2 pneumoperitoneum in four experimental groups were established with different pressures and durations of inflation.NGAL expression was detected by ELISA and renal function was estimated by quantitative analysis. The kidney injury was histologically evaluated. Results Serum creatine(SCr)and blood urine nitrogen(BUN)were not significantly differenct before and after pneumoperitoneum or among five groups(P0.05).Compared to control group,NGAL expressions increased significantly after pneumoperitoneum(P0.05).So did the scores of histological evaluations.Serum and urine NGAL expression was closely correlated to the degree of tubulointerstitial lesions(P0.01).Conclusion Detection of NGAL in serum and urine may predict early AKI induced by CO2 pneumoperitoneum in rats.
