Abstract

Objective:To detect the prophylactic effects of curcumin on rats hepatic fibrosis. Methods:The rats were divided into 6 group, normal control group, model group, positive control group,high-dose,middle-dose and low-dose curcumin group, except normal group, all other group were given CCl4 to induce liver fibrosis. When the research was over, the index of liver was detected. The activity of AST and ALT in all 6 group were detected.Morphology changes were observe by HE and Masson stain. Results:The liver index of model group was lower than that of the normal control group(P0.01),and after curcumin was applied, the liver index were higher than that of modal group(P0.05).Compared with normal control group, the activity of AST and ALT of the model group were higher significantly(P0.01),after treated with curcumin, the activity of AST and ALT were decreased significantly vs model group(P0.05).HE and Masson stain show that the lesion of liver in colchicin-treated group and curcumin-treated group was more mitigated than model group, and the degree of live fibrosis was also lesser(P0.05).Conclusion:The curcumin can protect the function and morphology of liver and avoid or delay the liver injury by CCl4.
