Abstract

Objective To investigate the protection of curcumin on acute liver injury in sepsis and to provide clinical a theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of sepsis. Methods senventy-two rats were divided into three groups:control group(sham operation group),experimental group(model group)and intervention group(curcumin treatment model group).A rats model of liver injury in sepsis was prepared by method of cecal ligation and puncture.Experimental group and intervention group were given operation of cecal ligation and puncture.Intervention group was injected curcumin in abdominal at a dosage of 100 mg/kg one hour after mold.Same volume normal Saline was injected to the rats of Control group and experimental group.Continuous observation was carried on in 48 h after surgery,at 6,12,24,48 h which were the observation points.Alanine aminotransferase(ALT)of liver function was detected by taking cardiac blood.Total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC)and glutathione peroxidase(GPx)in liver tissue homogenate were deteeted. The pathological changes of liver tissue was observed. Results As time went on,the ALT of control group was normal, while significantly increased with the deterioration of sepsis in the experimental group. The ALT of curcumin intervention group increased, but was less than the experimental group. The expression of T-AOC and GPx decreased in the experimental group compared to the control group,T-AOC increased at first and then decreased, while GPx gradually increased, and both increased after curcumin intervention. The liver of control group rats showed no abnormal changes in the structure;but there were a lot of inflammatory cells accumulation and cells swelling in liver tissue of experimental group and they were improved after curcumin intervention. Conclusion Curcumin has a protective effect on liver tissue of septic rats.
