Relationship between apoptosis and liver function in the development of liver cirrhosis

Abstract

Objective By studying the dynamic alterations of hepatocellular apoptosis and common liver function in rats with carbon tetrachloride-induced liver cirrhosis,to explore the relationship between this index and liver reserve function.Methods 90 male Wistar rats randomly divided into 3 groups,9 W,12 W,15 W were experimental groups;30 male Wistar rats randomly divided into 3 groups, were corresponding control groups,developing models of rat liver cirrhosis with complex factors (CCl_4,alcohol),and the control group with saline.The blood and the liver tissue were taken for measures of the group 9 W,12 W,15 W after 9,12,15 weeks ,and those of the corresponding control group were killed at the same time. The blood was taken for the determination of common hepatic function.The livers were taken for pathologic examination,in situ TUNEL.Results The expression of hepatocellular apoptosis in experimental groups was significantly higher than control group,9 W(7.38±1.71),12 W(14.81±2.99) and 15w(26.55±7.94).Conclusion The rates of hepatocellular apoptosis may be has important meaning in predicting liver reserve function.
