Abstract
Objective To analyze the characteristics of the incidence and epidemic trends of epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis in Luan city in 2003~2007 and to provide basis for making strategies and control programs of the disease. Methods Data from National Notifiable Diseases Registry System(NNDRS) and epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis surveillance system in 2003~2007 were analyzed. Results The incidence rate of epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis in 2003~2007 was 0.261/105,fatality rate was 6.25%.The seasonal incidence peaks were found in spring and winter. The incidence in students was higher than other people as well as in people from 15 to 19 ages.10 serogroup C Neisseria meningitidis strains were isolated. Conclusion In recent years, the risks of epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis outbreak are still existing. We should emphasize on the prevention and control of epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis in students and take integrated prevention measures by paying attention to the vaccination of the Meningococcal Meningitis vaccine and health education.
