Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of microsurgical removal of large tuberculum sellae meningioma via frontal lateral approach.Methods From June 2006 to October 2010,the tumors were microsurgically removed in 21 patients via frontal lateral approach,and the patients were followed up to observe changes in nerve function after surgery.Results Removal of Simpson GradeⅠandⅡ was performed in 18 cases(85.7%),removal of Simpson Grade Ⅲ was performed in 3 cases(14.3%),and postoperative visual improvement was 86%.Conclusion Microsurgical removal of large tuberculum sellae meningioma via frontal lateral approach can provide Sufficient surgical space,and is safe and reliable access to significant effect.
