Abstract

Objective To study the expression of VEGF-C in the tissues from the esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and analyze its correlation with the clinicopathological factors. Methods The expression of VEGF-C was detected by immunohistochemial staining in the tissues from 173 patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.Restults The positive expression rate of VEGF-C in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma tissues was 83.24%.No significant correlation was found between the VEGF-C expression and age, sex, blood type, tumor diameter, location, tumor gross type, infiltration depth, and histological grade of the esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (P0.05).There was a significant correlation between VEGF-C expression and lymph node metastasis as well as pathological stage(P0.01).Conclusion There is high expression of VEGF-C in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, and it play an important role in lymph node metastasis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
