Analyse on 6 parameters of reticulocyte in children with thalassemia

【Objective】 To analyse the change of 6 parameters of reticulocyte:reticulocyte percent(RET%),absolute reticulocyte count(RET#),immature reticulocyte fraction(IRF),low fluorescent reticulocyte(LFR),middle fluorescent reticulocyte(MFR),high fluorescent reticulocyte(HFR) in children with thalassemia. 【Methods】 Automatic reticulocyte counting(6 parameters)were measured by Sysmex XE-2100 in 106 children with thalassemia,then the results of 106 thalassemia children were compared with health children;compare α-thalassemia with β-thalassemia;and compare β-thalassemia in mild anemia with β-thalassemia in medium and serious anemia. 【Results】 The 6 parameters of reticulocyte(RET%,RET#,IRF,LFR,MFR,HFR) had significant difference among α-thalassemia,health children and mild anemia with β-thalassemia;The levels of IRF,LFR,MFR,HFR had significant difference among medium and serious anemia with β-thalassemia,health children and mild anemia with β-thalassemia;The levels of IRF,LFR,MFR in mild anemia with β-thalassemia and health children had significant difference(P0.05). 【Conclusions】 The levels of RET%,RET#,IRF,MFR,HFR in children with thalassemia became increase with the severity of anemia.But LFR is decrease with the severity of anemia.Reticulocyte 6 parameters are more effectly than RET%,RET# in discover thalassemia,especially the levels of IRF,LFR,MFR have higher value in discover mild anemia with β-thalassemia.
