Influence of rosiglitazone on endothelial function of fat patients with essential hypertension

Abstract

Objective To study the influence of rosiglitazone on the endothelial function of the fat patients with essential hypertension. Method Forty fat patients with essential hypertension were divided into two groups:the control group was given standard anti-hyper-tensive medications,and the treatment group was given standard anti-hypertensive medications and rosiglitazone ( 4 mg/d). At the begin and the end of one month,plasma insulin concentration,blood levels of endothelin 1 ( ET-1) and the concentration of CRP were detected in the two groups. Results Plasma insulin concentration,ET -1 and CRP were significantly decreased in the treatment group compared with pretreatment( P 0. 05) ,also showed significant difference with the control group ( P 0. 05). Conclusion Rosiglitazone can improve the endothelial function in fat patients with essential hypertension.
