Abstract
In a B-R buffer solution of pH 5.0, and upon the addition of CTMAB solution to the solution of the reagent 2-hydroxy-5-sulfophenylazo benylidene hydrazino-2′-carboxybenzene, a red coloration was observed at the wave lengths of 540nm and 570nm. The molar absorptivity (e) was found to be 2.2×10~4L·mol~(-1)·cm~(-1). Linear relationship was found between the absorbance of the red color and the concentration of CTMAB in the range of 0 005×10~(-5)~2.2×10~(-5)mol·L~(-1). Its detection limit was 1μg·ml~(-1). The proposed method has been satisfactorily used in the determination of CTMAB in water. Recoveries obtained were in the range from 92% to 104%.(
