The Investigation into English Learning Motivation of Chinese Higher Vocational Students

Abstract

This research investigates the situation of English learning motivation of 307 non-English majors from a higher vocational college through a questionnaire survey.The result indicates that the English learning motivation of most higher vocational students is at the medium level.They are mainly motivated by academic results and job hunting.Besides,they have low intrinsic interest in English and they have few opportunities to use English as a tool to communicate or get information.Therefore,the task of top priority in current higher vocational college English teaching reform is to adopt effective assessment system,improve the interest of classroom teaching,and create good environment for students to use English more frequently in daily life.
