A Prelimininary Study of the Military Property,Ecological Feature and Social Function of the Imperial Garden in the Eastern Han Dynasty

In the Eastern Han Dynasty,imperial gardens developed rapidly with the more and more outstanding function of entertainment,but the function of hunting and military affairs was still remained.Most of the gardens had natural environment as their main body,preserved a large amount of animals and plants,and demonstrated original properties of a natural reserve;meanwhile,with their abundant natural resource of animals and plants,royal gardens would become indispensable national resource store in case of natural disaster or man-made calamity,playing a significant role in safeguarding of the social stability.
