Abstract

Objective To improve CT scanning in diagnosing ovarian cystadenoma and ovarian cystadenocarcinoma. Methods We analyzed 45 CT findings of ovarian cystadenoma and ovarian cystadenocarcinoma in 37 patients that surgically and pathologically proved. Results Of 37 patients with 45 ovarian cystadenoma and ovarian cystadenocarcinoma,there were 28 patients with 32 lesions of ovarian cystadenoma and 9 patients with 13 lesions of ovarian cystadenocarcinoma. The cystadenomas were cystic,usually round or oval in shape with thin and regular wall. The cystadenocarcinomas were always cystic and solid,bilateral,irregular in shape with thick and irregular wall and septa. The total accuracy of preoperative diagnosis was 89%. Conclusion CT scanning is valuable means in diagnosing of ovarian cystadenoma and ovarian cystadenocarcinoma. But it still has some limitations. Analysis in combination with clinical data is helpful in increasing the diagnostic accurary.
