Abstract

Objective To compare the efficacy and safety of narrow-band ultraviolet B radiation(NB-UVB) with those of topical 0.05% halometasone cream in treating children with vitiligo. Methods Subjects were randomly divided into two groups: the study group(n=64),treated with NB-UVB radiation twice per week for 6 months;the control group(n=61),treated with topical 0.05% halometasone cream twice per day for 6 months. Results In the study group, the efficacy rate was significantly higher than that of the control group 70.3% vs 54.1%,P0.05.No adverse effect was found during the course of therapy in the study group. The efficacy was related to lesion type and course of treatment. Conclusion The therapy of NB-UVB radiation is an effective and well-tolerated treatment for childhood vitiligo.
