Analysis on the pediatric prescriptions in the outpatient the Huangjiang Hospital of Dongguan

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the pediatric prescriptions of outpatient in the Huangjiang Hospital of Dongguan, and promote rational medicines utilization. Methods: 4009 outpatient prescriptions of 30 days from Jan to Jun in 2005 were randomly sampled, the medication information was statistically analyzed. Results: The average cost of the prescriptions was 44.88 yuan, the rate of transfusion prescriptions and antibacterial prescriptions was 63.7% and 88.9%, respectively. The prescriptions consisting of 3~6 medicines accounted to 56.8%. In the total prescriptions investigated, the amount of the respiratory system diseases accounted to 88.4%, these prescriptions using antibacterial were 100% and combination of antibacterial was mostly proper. There were over-using Dexamethasone case. Conclusion: The usage of medicines in this outpatient has some problem, the education about rational administration must be emphasized.
