Study on Human Papillomavirus Genotyping in Cervical Cancer

Abstract

[Objective] To investigate human papilloma virus (HPV) prevalence and HPV genotypes distribution in cervical cancer, and to discuss the correlation of HPV genotypes and cancer types, pathological grade and clinical stage. [Methods]A total of 200 cervical cancer and 140 esophageal carcinoma patients were analyzed. HPV genotype analysis was performed through gene chip technique, which could detect 23 genotypes of HPV. The association of genotype distribution of HPV with clinic pathological factors of the two cancers was studied. [Results] ①A total of 94% (188/200) cervical cancer cases were positive HPV infection. The HPV infection rate of squamous cancer and adencarcinoma was present 95.86% and 80.00% respectively, and there was a significant difference in these two types. ② Nine HPV genotypes were detected in the 200 cases of cervical cancer, including HPV16, 18, 45, 33, 5, 59, 73, 31, 56, all of which were high risk of infection. HPV16 was the most common type, the rate could reach 74% (148/200), and the second was HPV18 (16.00%). In addition, 12.00%(24/200) cervical cases were detected with double infection of HPV. [Conclusion] HPV is closely associated with cervical cancer, especially the squamous cancer, but the HPV genotypes have no correlation with the cancer types. HPV genotypes are diversiform in cervical cancer tissue, all of which are high risk of HPV, and HPV16 is the most common type, and the second is HPV18, and HPV double infection can be found frequently.
