Abstract
Diethyl adipate was synthesized in high yield by esterification of ethyl alcohol with adipic acid in the presence of sodium bisulfate monohydrate. The effects of solvent, the amount of sodium bisulfate monohydrate and the amount of ethyl alcohol on the yield of diethyl adipate have been investigated. The yield of the ester could reaches 97.0% under amount of substance ratio of adipic acid, ethyl alcohol and sodium bisulfate was 1∶5∶0.2,benzene as solvent, refluxed and water segregated for 100 min.The ester was characterized by refractive index, elementary analysis and IR.
