Abstract

The multimedia service is the most important part of the information transmission in network now. The multicast was born to transform the multimedia service stream. This paper concerns about IP multicast knowledge and the protocol architecture. Following this we introduce the Internet Group Management Protocol and give the implementation in Layer 2 device.
