Abstract

Resseliella citrifrugis Jiang is an injurious insect on grapefruit. Its distribution in Hunan Province, and its morphology and bionomics are described in detail in this paper. It occurs for 4 generations every year in Hunan, and over-winters with the 4 th instars larvae in soil or in pomelo. The adult begins to emerge in the last ten days of April. The larvae have 4 instars and their damage can result in the drop of pomelo. The second and last ten days of May,the last ten days of June to the first ten days of July, and the last ten days of August to the first ten days of September are the three damage peaks, especially the first period. The control measures are as follows:the enhancement of quarantine work, application of pesticide to soil surface in winter, keeping fruits in bags, application of pesticide to the crowns of trees and the surface of soil.
