Abstract
Trypophloeus klimeschi Eggers is a new recorded species in China. It is highly dangerous to the stands of Xinjiang poplar, it can cause these trees to die in a short time. It has 2 generations in a year and overwinters as adult in Alar County, Xinjiang. It injures mainly the trunk of 40~200 cm high. Adults are exposed outside in three periods of time annually: the first ten days and the middle ten days of May, the last ten days of July and the middle days of August, and the last ten days of September. In natural condition, the larval stage lasts 30 days. The efficient method is to spray the trees with insecticides at the peak periods when the adults move outside the tunnels.
