Survey of AIDS behavior among commercial sex workers in Changjiang Li Nationality County,Hainan

Abstract

Objective To understand the HIV related knowledge and risk behavior among commercial sex workers(CSW),and to provide references for making effective intervention measures in the future.Methods Questionnaire provided by the UNFPA project was used to survey face-to-face by trained interviewers.Results Percentage of CSW who correctly answer HIV transmission routes(UNGASS)was 71.6%,the rate of condom using in the last commercial sex was 91.6%,Percentage of CSW who reported the use of a condom for every sexual intercourse in the last month was 71.3%,Percentage of CSW received HIV test and knew the results was 43.5%,and Percentage of CSW who received HIV intervention service in the last year was 98.3%.Conclusions The rates of AIDS related knowledge and condom use are higher than those in other counties in Hainan province,and it may related to the preventive interventions among CSW since 2006.
