Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationship between the expression of transforming growth factor-β 1(TGF-β 1) and the differentiation and metastasis of colorectal adenocarcinoma. Methods The expression of transforming growth factor-β 1 in 42 samples of colorectal adenocarcinoma was observed with immunohistochemical technique. Results ⑴The levels of TGF-β 1 expression were significantly higher in poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma than that in high differentiated cancer (P0 01),⑵The levels of TGF-β 1 expression were significantly higher in colorectal adenocarcinonc with metastasis of lymph node and liver(P0 05).Conclusions It is indicated that TGF-β 1 might be closely correlated with differentiation and metastasis of colorectal adenocarcinoma, the over-expression of TGF-β 1 is a marker of poor prognosis of colorectal adenocarcinoma.
