Abstract

Objective To investigate the implication of hyperhomocysteinemia in coronary heart disease and the correlation between HCY and lipid in blood. Methods The fasting plasma total HCY, serum triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC), high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C) and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) of 105 cases with affirmed CHD and 32 age and gender matched controls were determined respectively. Statistical analysis was done to all measured parameters. Results The HCY ,TG and TC levels were significantly higher in CHD group than those in control group (P0.01). In CHD group,HCY level was significantly related to TG level (r=0.021,P0.05),however,TC, HDL-C and LDL-C showed no distinct effect on HCY.Conclusions Plasma HCY level is closely related with CHD and HHCY is a risk factor for CHD. To determine the plasma HCY may be of certain advantages for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of CHD. There exist certain correlations between HCY and TG.
