Abstract

Objective To explore the efficacy of fresh amniotic membrane transplantation for treatment of recurrent pterygium.Methods Pterygium of 30 patients (36 eyes) were excised and transplanted with fresh amniotic membrane.Results Patients were followed up for 12 months on average.Pterygium recurred in only 4 eyes,and the others were cured.The recurrence rate was 11.1%.Conclusions Excision of pterygium combined with fresh amniotic membrane transplantation is an effective therapeutic method for recurrent pterygium.
