Abstract

Objective To investigate the relationship among alanine aminotransferase (ALT) positive and gender, age, occupation, frequency of blood donation, hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and anti-hepatitis C virus antibody (anti-HCV). Methods ALT detection results and the constituent ratio of HBsAg and anti-HCV positive blood donors without payment in Xiangtan Central Blood Station in 2009 were statistically analyzed, and the correlation between them was analyzed by chi square test. Results Unqualified rate of male blood donators in the age group of 26~45 years was higher than that of female ones in the same age group, and the difference was statistically significant (P0.01). There were differences among the blood donors with different occupations, and the difference was statistically significant between students and officials (P0.01). The ALT positive was associated with HBsAg or anti-HCV positive donors. Conclusions Strengthening the propaganda of blood donation knowledge and ALT bolting and establishing more reasonable reference value system of ALT disqualification are good for avoiding blood source waste and controlling virus hepatitis infection and spread by the route of blood transfusion.
