Abstract

Objective To investigate the change in serum level of high sensitive C-reactive protein(hs-CRP) in acute cerebrovascular disease and explore its clinical significance. Methods Serum level of hs-CRP was measured in 168 patients with acute cerebrovascular disease at two different time points:acute and recovery period(with an interval of 14 days),and 165 healthy volunteers as normal control. The relationship among serum level of hs-CRP,NIHSS,size of cerebral infarction lesions, mortality rate and risk factors for cerebrovascular disease was analyzed. Results The hs-CRP levels in patients with acute cerebrovascular disease were significantly higher in both the acute and recovery period than those in normal control group(P0.01).There were positive relation between the hs-CRP levels and the NIHSS scores, size of cerebral infarction lesions and mortality rate respectively(P0.01).There was no significant difference of hs-CRP level between cerebrovascular infarction group and intracerebral hemorrhage group(P0.05).The levels of hs-CRP were positively correlated with the serum fasting blood glucose, systolic blood pressure, triglycerides, total cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol respectively(P0.01),and which were negatively correlated with high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(P0.01).Conclusion Serum hs-CRP level is closely correlate with the onset, development and prognosis of acute cerebrovascular disease. It is also correlate with the risk factors for cerebrovascular disease. And it can be regarded as an important indication for condition judgement and prognosis assessment of patients with acute cerebrovascular disease.
