Abstract
Objective To evaluate the value of cerebral arteriovenous malformation (AVM) with Onyx. Methods Onyx18 was used to treat 12 cases of cerebral arteriovenous malformation. The diameter of AVM was all beyond 3 cm, 3-6 cm in 9 cases, over 6 cm in 3 cases. The diseased region of all cases were of multi- arterial supply. Results In 12 cases of AVM, 2 cases were embolized more than 80%, 7 cases 50%-80%, and 3 cases less than 50%. There were 3 patients complicated with intracranial hemorrhage, and one of them died. Conclusion Onyx is an optimal embolization material in the treatment of AVM, but it’s necessary to master the correct embolization technique to avoid complications.
