Abstract
A new kinetic spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace amounts of molybdenum has been proposed. It was based on the molybdenum inhibited coloring reaction of ponceau 2R oxidized by potassium periodic in the sodium borate-sulphuric acid medium. The optimum conditions and kinetic parameters was investigated. The apparent activation energy of catalytic reaction is 117.44 kJ.mol-1 and the apparent reaction rate is 9.77×10-4.s-1.The linear range of determination of molybdenum was 0-0.18 mg.L-1 and the detection limit was 40 μg.L-1.The method has been used for the determination of trace amounts of molybdenum in gangue.
