Abstract

A kinetic spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace of molybdenum has been proposed based on the molybdenum catalysed coloring reaction of nuclear fast red oxidized by potassium persulphate in the sodium borate-muriatic acid medium.The optimum conditions and kinetic parameters were investigated.The apparent activation energy of catalytic reaction was 119.64kJ/mol and the apparent reaction rate was 9.23×10-4 s-1.The linear range of molybdenum determination was 10-200μg/L and the detection limit was 5μg/L.The method has been used for the determination of trace molybdenum in gangues with relative standard deviation of 2.5%-2.9%and the recovery of 95.0%-113.3%.
