Clinical Observation of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Complicated with Steatohepatitis Treated with Modified Chaohu Xianxiong Decoction

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of modified Chaihu Xianxiong Decoction on type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) complicated with non-alcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH).Methods Forty-nine outpatients of T2DM complicated with NASH were randomized into a treatment group(26 cases) and a control group(23 cases).The diet control,physical exercise,anti-glucose with Acarbose and Silybin Capsule,and liver protection were applied in the two groups.In the treatment group,besides the basic treatment,the Chinese medicine granules,modified Chaihu Xianxiong Decoction were supplemented for oral administration.The duration of treatment was 3 months.The symptom score,blood glucose,blood lipid and the indexes of liver function were observed before and after treatment in the two groups.The efficacy was compared.Results The difference in the symptom score before and after treatment was significant in the patients of two groups(P 0.01),the result in the treatment group was better than that in the control group(P 0.05).The differences in blood glucose,blood lipid and the indexes of liver function were significant before and after treatment in the patients of two groups(P 0.05).The results in the treatment group were superior to those in the control group(P 0.05).The total effective rate in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group(P 0.05).Conclusion The modified Chaihu Xianxiong Decoction is effective and safe in treatment of T2DM complicated with NASH and deserves to be promoted in clinical practice.
